Trail to First Class at Big Basin, April 24-26

Blooms1This year we will have our Trail to First Class campout at Big Basin Redwoods State Park (21600 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek, CA 95006).  Trail to First Class will help Scouts earn achievements from Tenderfoot through First Class with the help of older Scouts and those of higher ranks. It is great introduction to camping for new Scouts, and an opportunity for older Scouts to pay back and and show appreciation for all that scouting has given them.

1000160-2010-02-28_15.16_5166Big Basin Redwoods State Park is beautiful in April. We will be staying at the Blooms Creek Campground, situated among the largest continuous stand of ancient coastal redwood trees, some of the oldest and largest trees on the planet. Big Basin Redwoods State Park covers more than 18,000 acres, and has more than 80 miles of hiking trails.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park also boasts a large amount of waterfalls and diverse landscapes, such as lush canyon bottoms to grassy chaparral hills, a wide variety of animals such as deer, raccoons, lots of bird life, and even bobcats occasionally.

To make this as successful as possible we would like to see as many scouts as possible attend, and we are looking for a Scout to help organize the event.
