Led by Scoutmaster Lance Vaughn, Troop 64 boasts about 40+ Scouts and is known for its track record in getting boys to Eagle Scout status. They camp in the snow…they camp on the seas…during holidays, the sell Christmas trees and place flags on the graves of our veterans. Each year, they tackle a variety of service projects which benefit our town. Below, some highlights from our newest Eagles:

Kevin Kelley built three sets of tables and benches for his high school, Summit Prep. Kevin raised money to purchase the material and he and his fellow scouts and volunteers put in over 150 hours of time in this effort. Because Kevin had been so successful at fund raising that, in addition to the tables, he was able to donate over $700.00 to Summit’s scholarship program.

Alex Duff restored the five outdoor benches at Christ Church to new condition. He raised money for new lumber and supplies, then he and a crew of fellow Scouts removed the benches, replaced bad boards with new ones, power washed, sanded, refinished and re-installed the benched at the church.

Weston Bourgeois converted a quarter circle sandbox into three garden beds for Footsteps Childcare, a preschool for low-income residents. After designing the garden beds for 3-5 year old children, he purchased the materials and led a group of Scouts in the construction. Later the ground was prepared with rock and the elevated garden beds were installed in the designated area at the preschool.
